Thanksgiving

It’s become an annual tradition of mine to ride from my home in Hellertown, Pa. to my mother’s home in Wind Gap, Pa. It’s not a long ride (only about 90 minutes) but the traffic is usually light and the ride takes me past Blue Mountain Ski Resort and up a long dirt and cinder windy mountain road that I used to hike on as a kid. This year I was blessed with perfect weather and the ride was especially memorable. There’s something about riding to meet family that for me is always special. It’s easy to ride away from things; but it’s so much better to ride towards something. They’ve come to expect that I’ll be arriving on the motorcycle no matter the weather and I get the usual jabs about being “insane to ride in the cold and wet”. It’s always a fun ride to reflect, in keeping with the holiday, on what I am thankful for and riding some of my favorite roads on a day with perfect weather to spend time with a loving family makes that easy to do.

Be safe.
