Human Motorcycles

Posted by on October 31, 2012

Interesting little video about San Francisco based artist Trina Merry using body paint to create human motorcycles for the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows ad campaign. Each design took upwards of 15 hours to create and features a sport bike, a cruiser and a dirt bike.

From human to metal. A motorcycle is not complete without a rider. It can never be complete without a rider. An aircraft can be a drone and a car an appliance. A cage of metal and glass tinted so deep so as to not reveal anything of interior space or that which occupies it. This can never be so on a motorcycle. The rider is always needed to complete the picture and for this reason a motorcycle will always be more personal, more passionate. Maybe that is why builders are so passionate about the bikes that they create as this video reveals.

The irony is that the builder in the video creates a bike so out there, at one point he wonders if it should even be ridden.
