Hello and Welcome!

My name is Bud Miller, I’m 58, a senior CAD designer/I.T. Manager/CAD Manager/Surveyor, mobile app developer and licensed F.A.A. drone pilot by day and also a moto-journalist.

A bit about my history: I took up riding in 1998 after my father died suddenly at age 57. I started, primarily as a means to spend more time with my younger brother Dave, who’s been riding since his teens. Dave found me my first bike, patiently taught me to ride and eventually took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation safety course with me (he was “top gun”). We’ve been riding together off and on ever since. There’s not been a time in my life when I needed him that my brother wasn’t there for me so you can imagine what riding together is like.

Where I’m from

I took the M.S.F. basic safety course in 2002 and the advanced course in 2004. I’ve owned 12 bikes, a 1981 Yamaha Maxim, a 2002 Honda Nighthawk, a 2007 Kawi KLR, a 2005 Suzuki V-Strom, a 2012 Suzuki V-Strom, a 2014 Triumph Street Triple R, a 2012 Triumph Bonneville T100, 2019 Kawasaki Versys 650LT, 2018 Street Triple R, 2020 Street Triple R, 2019 Indian FTR 1200S, and a 2021 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport. I’ve amassed more than 250,000 miles of commuting and trip experience as of this writing.

I’m a C.A.D. manager/designer/draftsman, I.T. manager and software developer by profession but my passion is riding. This blog is dedicated to my father “Mr. Bud” who passed before I took my first ride. All I can promise is that the writing here will be honest and reflect my thoughts on riding and the riding lifestyle.

When I started this I really had no idea what direction it would take. As it turns out my focus is on safety, education, training and my daily observations on traveling via motorcycle. My wish is that everyone who stops by reads something that maybe they hadn’t thought of before that helps them ride more safely and avoid trouble and be entertained in the process. Hopefully you’ll find something of value here. Feel free to poke around, disagree, correct me if I’m wrong and add your insights.

Please email me here.

Welcome and enjoy!

Hi Bud, Nice site/blog! I'm moved by your personal story as I lost my dad young too. He was only 56. Cancer. Damn cigarettes! Well, continued safe, fun riding to you! And I'll be contacting you again. I import a cool product you and your readers might like. Found it in Tokyo, Japan, where I lived and worked for nearly 16 years. Regards, Art (in Murrieta, CA)

Hey Bud ! Cool blog ! I'm an avid rider doing it since I learned from my dad when i was 6. I grew up in Hellertown and graduated from Saucon Valley in 75 and still living in the Lehigh Valley. Saw i your bio you started a riders group, do you still have that going ? Might be nice to hook up for a ride now and then.

Hi, sure I'd love to get together to ride. I gave up my group, we had grown to nearly 200 but it got to be too much of a liability after a few incidents occurred. I still ride once in a while with a few of the core members. Drop me a line at budcad1@gmail.com

      Thanks

Hi, Bud_Awesome blog, I was thinking about creating a motorcycle blog but wasn't quite sure how to get started, it would be great if you could_share some tips, I love to ride the most exciting ride for me was from the tail of the dragon threw the Smokey Mountains then on to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I'm sure you have some rides that you love and never stop thinking about, I'd enjoy hearing about them._Thanks_Jim

It's not about the make my friend. I've ridden several makes and models, names don't influence what I write, I write about the feeling of riding. BMW, Honda, Ducati, Suzuki, whatever. Makes, models I couldn't care less about, it's about the feelings. Ride on as AC/DC said…

Why aren't you riding a BMW? Enjoy your articles, but you are missing the edge. On
The other hand, you may not be writing so much if you're riding a BMW.
