7th Annual RoadRUNNER Magazine Touring Weekend

RoadRUNNER Magazine named Maggie Valley, North Carolina as the location for its 7th Annual Touring Weekend and Memorial Ride. Each year, the team at RoadRUNNER hosts this event in honor of the magazine’s founder, Christian Neuhauser. For the past six years, the Touring Weekend has been based at various locations along the East Coast, most recently landing in Staunton, VA (2011) and Bristol, VA (2010).

On July 11, 2012, the event will kick off with a welcome party and barbeque at this year’s base in the beautiful mountain town of Maggie Valley. To accommodate a growing number of participants, the weekend has been extended to four days—Thursday has been included as a time when attendees can choose to ride on their own, convene on the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds, where RoadRUNNER and a number of vendors will have booths, or take a five-minute walk to the nationally acclaimed motorcycle museum, Wheels Through Time.

On Friday and Saturday, guests may choose to join one of RoadRUNNER’s leaders on a guided tour or ride on their own. All tour-goers will enjoy a 150 mile loop through the twists-and-turns of Western North Carolina’s beautiful mountainside. In addition to leisure, sport touring, and cruising groups, there will also be an Off-road guided tour offered for the first time. Registration fees include lunch on the road and tour guides always make time for picture stops or ice cream along the way.

Additional event highlights include a scavenger hunt, live music from local bluegrass and rock bands on Wednesday and Friday nights, seminars from the RoadRUNNER staff, and a full-day riding course conducted by the instructors at Stayin’ Safe. This is a pre-registered event and space is filling up quickly. Act fast if you plan to make the 2012 RoadRUNNER Touring Weekend part of your summer plans.
