Q-Legal tells me I have no parcels defined in the active project?
**NOTE: The parcels version of Q-Legal
will only function in the last version of Land Desktop you installed.
This problem can also occur for the following 3 reasons:
1. You may have had or have 2 versions of
Land Desktop on the same system at the same time.
If you have both Land Desktop 3 and 2004 you need to
run the batch files included with Land Desktop 2004:
Run_LDT2004.bat (in the
main LDT2004 folder) must be run before you open Land Desktop 2004
Run_LDT3.bat (in the main
LDT2004 folder) must be run before you open Land Desktop 3
Also, if you had 2
versions of LDT installed and removed one you may need to run the
install again (on the newer version) and do either a repair or reinstall
of LDT. Autodesk recommends this as well in the LDT2004 readme file.
2. On some systems
the AEC menus are not loaded until an AEC menu item is selected. These
menus need to be loaded for Q-Legal to access the parcel database. To
force them to load just click any AEC menu item (like Point Settings,
Parcel Settings, etc.) Once they are loaded you will no longer receive
the error message. You can then toggle back to the open Q-Legal session
and click on the Show Preferences button to resume the program.
3. You must NOT
have AEC/Land Enabled AutoCAD running (in addition to LDT) when you use
Q-Legal for Parcels. You should also only have one instance of LDT
running as well.
Please e-mail
me if neither solution works for you.

I'm
getting a "compile error in hidden module" when I run Q-Legal Parcels
version?
This problem can occur for 2 reasons:
2. You had 2
versions of LDT installed and removed the older one.
You may need to run the
install again (on the newer version) and do either a repair or reinstall
of LDT. Autodesk recommends this as well in the LDT readme file.
Also, bear in mind that
there are separate versions of Q-Legal for each LDT version from 2i on
up. Make sure you have the correct versions installed (if you have 2
versions of LDT you need 2 versions of Q-Legal and need to run the
correct one for the LDT you are in).

me if these solutions do not work for you.

I'm
getting a run-time error: "Method 'AngleToString'
of object iAcadUtility failed"
when I run Q-Legal Parcels version.
This problem occurs if the angular precision
value in Land Desktop is set higher than 7.
Solution: In Land Desktop click Projects
> Drawing Setup > Units tab, and change the angular precision to
between 3 and 7
Please e-mail
me if these solutions do not work for you.

The
distance suffix is appearing before the distance
instead of after.
This problem can occur if there are extraneous
spaces in the "degrees/minutes/seconds" boxes.
Solution: check that the
degrees/minutes/seconds boxes have, at most, only one space before and
one space after the value.
Please e-mail
me if these solutions do not work for you.

How do I
start Q-Legal from AutoCAD?
Simply add the installation directory to your support
files search path in AutoCAD under Preferences (r14) or Options (r2000+). You can
then load
the menu included (menuload from the command line) and use the button to start Q-Legal.
There is also a Lisp routine included that you can
appload or add to your startup suite (r2000+) or your acad.lsp file. Once the
routine is loaded you can type Qlegal at the command line to start the program.

How do I control the precision display?
The program merely keeps the precision you set in Land
Desktop. Use the Lot/Parcel settings and Softdesk/LDD angular/linear precision
settings to establish the desired precision.
The LDD2i/3/2004/2005 versions allow you to select the
precision in Word when you write the description.

How do I use the custom prompts in my
header & footer?
Just type the header and footer you want (or edit those
included) and enclose any unknown (the phrase you want your users to see) in
double forward slashes (ex. //Plan name//) Q-Legal will find the text and add
"Enter " to it in a prompt at run time and insert the user input in the
description.
For example if you want to be prompted for a
plan creation date your header might read:
...based upon a plan created on //Plan
Creation Date//...
At run time you will be prompted as follows:
"Enter Plan Creation Date"
The values you enter at run time are stored as
the defaults so that if you are creating several descriptions based upon
the same plan you would not need to enter any redundant data.

Why are there clockwise and POB
prompts if I'm defining the lots in Softdesk?
You are prompted for the direction and
POB to allow for greater flexibility in defining the lots in Softdesk/LDT. You
can have a technician or draftsman without specific Survey experience define all
the lots (using fast commands like bpoly, which usually results in
counterclockwise definitions) and then change them to suit in the
program.

My
legal description doesn't have any numbers in the bearings?
In Word go to the Tools menu and click Options... then
click the Edit tab. Make sure "Typing replaces selection" is checked.
This is a global setting and will only need to be set once.

Why
are there are extra degree symbols in my descriptions?
The extra degree symbols you see are not actually text.
They are Word formatting marks indicating non-breaking spaces. Q-Legal inserts
them to keep your bearings from being broken over more than one line (i.e. the
spaces in "N 12 degrees 13 minutes 14 seconds W" will not cause the
bearing to be broken over 2 lines).
To hide the formatting marks in Word click Tools,
Options. On the View tab clear the check box for Spaces. The formatting for
spaces will no longer be visible.

I'm
getting the following error in Word after I select the POB: "Run-Time
error '13' Type mismatch".
Check
Drawing Settings (All Versions):
You
must have the linear units in AutoCAD set to at least 3.
Angle
Display Style must be set to "Bearings" (not azimuths).
In Land Desktop these
settings are found on the Units tab under Projects,
Drawing Setup.
Check
Parcel Settings (Softdesk/Land Desktop 1 & 2 Only):
Click
here for Parcel Settings requirements in Softdesk and LDD1 & 2.

Why
am I getting an error when I select the insertion point for my table in
AutoCAD?
In earlier versions of GetParcels your current
text style was required to have a non-zero height and the table was
always inserted into modelspace.
The current version of the program removes those
requirements.

After
I create the Notepad report why am I told it can't be found (or it opens
in a blank Notepad window)?
The program is having a problem opening the file
name. This can occur if you have certain characters (like
"&") in the path name. To get around this answer
"no" to the prompt to open the file, then find the file (it's
in the same folder as the drawing it was created from and ends in
"-GL.txt") and open it with Notepad or other text editor. You
can also switch to the Word or Excel reports, they do not create this
problem.
